Start with confidence
A little preparation makes your first day with a new device easier. Use this checklist to organise your accounts, data and accessories, then turn to Apple's official support resources for device-specific instructions.
Before your new device arrives
Back up the device you are replacing and check that you can access your Apple Account and important apps. Make a note of the software and accessories you rely on. Check compatibility with the exact new model rather than assuming that every cable, keyboard or Pencil works across the range.
Set up carefully
Allow time for setup, software updates and data transfer on a reliable connection. Follow the prompts on the device and Apple's official instructions for your model. Keep account passwords and verification codes private. Choose a device passcode and review the privacy, backup and security settings during setup.
Moving your work and personal data
List what you need to move: documents, photos, messages, app accounts and saved work. Keep the original backup until you have checked that the important items are available on the new device. If the device belongs to an organisation, agree on the account, access and device-management process with its administrator before transferring data.
Finding the right support
Apple's support site provides official help for Mac, iPhone, iPad and other Apple products. For a purchase enquiry, keep your Apple Market order details ready. For a device issue, note the model, software version, error message and the steps that reproduce the problem. Do not share sensitive account credentials.
Apple Market services
Paid setup appointments, data migration, repairs and ongoing support packages have not been confirmed for launch. This guide is informational and does not claim that Apple Market is an Apple Authorised Service Provider. Any additional service will need its scope, availability and price stated before booking.
